Chocolate Garden The construction phase is due to start in summer 2010 at the Chocolate Garden, a derelict space on the Bournville Estate in Weston-super-Mare. AFLA Ltd was originally appointed in 2008 to provide concept sketch ideas for this open space, sited on a former public convenience and parking lot. Successful funding has enabled this project to develop fully through from the design to the construction stage. Originally planned as a local community self-build project, the design needed to be simple, engaging yet frivolous. Design features include smarties made from steel and coloured perspex, footpaths incorporating chocolate swirls, facsimile chocolate signage and an artist designed mural.
