With over ten years’ landscape architectural experience in the public sector, he went on to found AFLA Ltd in 2000. Over the past decade, Alex has built on his extensive experience and has created a landscape design practice specialising in innovative, environmentally sensitive and sustainable designs in both the private and public sector.
In the autumn 2011, Alex will become an accredited Learning through Landscapes Facilitator, joining the network of accredited school grounds professionals in the UK who help support schools in the use, design and management of their grounds.
Kim Pennelegion
Kim co-founded AFLA Ltd and her aim is to ensure the practice runs as smoothly as possible. Her areas of responsibility are wide-ranging, and include financial management, administration and marketing.
Shaun Lyons, B.Sc(Hons)
Having recently completed an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture with Ecology at the University of Sheffield, Shaun joined AFLA in September 2011 as a graduate Landscape Architect. Shaun will work closely with Alex during the coming year, before returning to the University of Sheffield in September 2012 to complete his MLA.
Other staff
Alongside the core staff, AFLA benefits from having an extensive and established network of professionals (from Designers and Access Consultants through to Quantity Surveyors) who can be brought in to each project as required. This enables AFLA to individually tailor a project team to suit the requirements of each client whilst ensuring that its Practice Director gives each client his personal attention.
